Australia: ACT Parliament to debate drug possession laws

The possession of small amounts of illicit drugs such as heroin, ice and MDMA could be decriminalised in the Australian Capital Territory if a new bill passes parliament. The Canberra Times reported the new law would allow police to bypass the justice system and instead hand out $100 civil fines for people caught with drugs.
