A judge detected a smell of cannabis as heard a case at the local district court.
Before Naas District Court was Christopher Treacy, 52, whose address was given as 9 Cherry Orchard Crescent, Ballyfermot, Dublin.
The father of five was prosecuted for possessing €10 of the drug on April 2, 2020, at a dwelling at Brayton Park, Kilcock.
As the case was heard Judge Desmond Zaidan commented that he could smell cannabis from the bench in the courtroom.
“My sense of smell is nearly gone, yet I can still smell it,” he said to laughter.
The defendant said: “I’m so long smoking it, I can’t do without it.”
The judge applied the Probation Act.
